We operate 7 feeding programs: one in El Cacique and six in various bateyes in Barahona. These communities are extremely poor and often lack documentation, making it difficult for them to receive assistance. As a result, many children suffer from malnutrition, and some even face life-threatening conditions.
Food for children
About 50% of children in the bateyes, impoverished Haitian communities in the Dominican Republic, live in extreme poverty and are malnourished.
Our nutrition programs aim to provide these children with a daily meal and to share God’s love through our efforts.
Groceries for the families
Supporting Our Families with Essential Groceries
At Sociedad Lucas, we work with mixed families living under one roof and relying on short-term jobs, often facing food shortages. While our breakfast program feeds children, all family members must have access to nutritious food to stay healthy and work.
To meet this need, we launched the “Groceries for Families” program, delivering monthly grocery bags to families in need.
Each grocery bag is designed to provide the necessary nutrition for families to sustain themselves for two to three weeks, depending on their size.
