Due to a lack of education and legal documents, many women struggle to find jobs. Unlike men who can find construction work, these women often resort to scavenging in the city dump.
The Program
Empowering Women Through Sewing: Skill Development and Spiritual Support
The women meet in groups of 4-5 three times a week, learning to sew items for themselves, and their homes, or to sell for supporting their families with the help of an instructor.
Our goal is twofold: to teach a valuable skill for financial progress and to show them that God loves and cares for them, helping them find peace in Jesus Christ.

Olga, a mother of five, is among the first women to join our sewing program. Her calm and meticulous spirit shines through in each piece she delicately creates.
Starting with small savings from selling her handmade items, Olga was determined to improve her family’s living conditions. Over time, she saved enough to purchase materials with her husband to repair their home, providing a safer and more secure environment for her family.
Charisia is one of the pioneering women in our program. Previously, she supported her family by scavenging the city dump for items to fix and sell, as well as searching for food.
Through the sewing program, Charisia has earned a steady income, allowing her to leave the dangers of the dump behind. She has even started her own small business, selling curtains she has sewn at local markets.
We are thrilled for Charisia’s progress and eagerly anticipate the continued blessings God has in store for her.
Monica shares that the greatest benefit of the sewing program is the chance to escape her daily struggles for a few hours and experience God’s peace while surrounded by the supportive group of women.
Our goal is to impact these women both physically and spiritually.
Monica, a mother of three, has faced significant challenges, including expensive medical care for her youngest son who was diagnosed with sickle cell anemia. She has witnessed God’s provision through generous donations. Additionally, through the sewing program, Monica has earned extra income by sewing and selling bags, which has helped her support her family and cover her son’s medication.
