The Process and Journey

At just eight months old, little Wilmer has already faced more challenges than many of us will encounter in a lifetime. We first met Wilmer and his mother during one of our medical brigades, where we discovered that he was born with dextrocardia—a rare condition where his heart is located on the right side of his chest—and severe respiratory issues. From that moment, we knew his road to recovery would be long and difficult. Yet, by the grace of God, every obstacle has been met with provision, hope, and faith.

The first major challenge was finding a hospital equipped to perform the complex surgery Wilmer desperately needed. After many prayers, countless phone calls, and endless searches, we finally located a hospital willing and capable of performing the procedure. But our journey didn’t end there. Wilmer’s mother needed to update her documents, and we needed to raise the necessary funds for the surgery. Once again, God showed His faithfulness, providing everything we needed just in time. Now, Wilmer’s surgery is scheduled for October 2024—a crucial step toward a brighter, healthier future.

Despite these victories, the road ahead remains filled with challenges. The surgery itself is high-risk due to Wilmer’s delicate condition and young age, and it’s essential that he remains in good health as the operation approaches. This is where our most pressing issue arises. Wilmer and his family live next to a dump site, surrounded by toxic smoke and chemicals from burning trash. This environment has taken a severe toll on Wilmer’s fragile health, causing frequent illnesses that complicate his preparation for surgery.

We are doing everything in our power to help Wilmer stay healthy and recover fully, but we recognize that his situation requires more than just medical care—it requires divine intervention. We are earnestly asking for your prayers during this critical time, as we believe God’s hand can move in powerful ways to protect and heal this precious child.

Additionally, we are exploring the possibility of building a new home for Wilmer and his family, far from the hazardous environment of the dump site. A safe, clean living space could give him a much better chance at a healthy life and improve his long-term prospects beyond the surgery.

 God’s Answer: Healing for Wilmer

We are thrilled to share that Wilmer has successfully undergone his first surgery and is now in recovery. While there are still several surgeries ahead, this one has given him more time and renewed hope. We are incredibly grateful to God, the local organizations, the dedicated doctors, and all the generous donors who made this miracle possible.

Every day, we witness God’s power at work in our ministry, and this is just the beginning!

Please continue to keep Wilmer and his family in your prayers, as we trust that God listens and answers. If you would like to support Wilmer and his family, whether by donating food, helping repair their home near the city’s landfill, or covering medical expenses, we would love to hear from you. Together, we can continue to be the hands and feet of Christ on earth.
